Hyperloop at Virginia Tech is a student-led design team competing in the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition.
We are an interdisciplinary team composed of students from the College of Engineering, Myers-Lawson School of Construction and Pamplin College of Business.
Hyperloop is a transportation concept proposed by Elon Musk in which a levitating pod will travel at transonic speeds in near-vacuum pressure. This would allow for trips from New York to Washington, D.C. in as little as 30 minutes.
Building off of our previous 2 Hyperloop pods, we have seen the successes and identified key areas of improvement. Now, more than ever, we need your help to continue transforming this concept into a reality.

How do your Contributions help?
After placing Fourth and Seventh in Competition I and Competition II respectively, we are overhauling our pod. Previously we used cold gas propulsion, coupled with electronic braking, sensors, a carbon fiber shell, and custom suspension. Not only are we redesigning all of that, but we are also going all electric! After in-depth analysis and testing, we decided to use an electric motor to power the majority of our pod to achieve our target speed.

Your contribution helps to buy the parts for our electric motor and power our pod through the Hyperloop
Your donation goes towards the redesign and building of a new braking system capable of stopping our pod from at least 250 MPH in 400 Meters!
With the help of your donation we will be able to design new suspension and wheels to create a smooth ride during our mile long run for optimal performance and speed. You will also get the chance to have a lunch or dinner with some members on the team!
