Access to Opportunities & Mentoring in Science (ATOMS) Program
Support our first-generation college students
Support our first-generation college students College of Science Support first-generation college students as they navigate academic life, find community, and reach their goals. Your gift will directly support resources and programs that help first generation college students build confidence and feel connected, from individual peer mentoring to academic workshops. In partnership with Public Health, ATOMS (Access to Opportunities & Mentoring in Science) Program is our flagship peer mentoring experience, pairing incoming students with upper-level science majors to help guide them through their first year at Virginia Tech. These small mentoring pods meet weekly and connect students to the people, tools, and advice they need to succeed. We target our program towards first-generation college students to support their transition to college. Since starting in 2022, we have supported over 450 first year students through ATOMS. Our goal is to raise $7,500 to support these efforts and expand access to mentoring, research opportunities, and student support services. We host engaging weekly events throughout the semester from office hours and workshops to social mixers and research panels. These events help students build community, confidence, and a strong academic network for first generation college students. Your gift will directly support resources and programs that help first generation college students build confidence, connect with mentors, and thrive from the ATOMS peer mentoring program to academic workshops and study nights. Whether you’re sponsoring a coffee chat, a student-led event, or a full mentoring pod, your contribution helps first-generation students feel supported and seen. Join us in building a stronger, more connected science community one step at a time.

Hampton Roads Supports Future Veterinarians
Regional targeted support page for Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine from the Hampton Roads area.
Regional targeted support page for Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine from the Hampton Roads area.
Community support for Virginia's only veterinary college: the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine
From Norfolk and Virginia Beach to Chesapeake, Suffolk, and communities across Hampton Roads, veterinary care is part of our community. Behind every veterinarian is a place where they learned to care for animals, solve difficult problems, and serve the people who depend on them. For Virginia, that place is the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine — the Commonwealth’s only veterinary college. The veterinarians caring for your pets, livestock, and communities today may have started their journey at VMCVM. And the students training there now will become the veterinarians serving Virginia tomorrow. Your community can help shape that future. Your gift can support scholarships that help future veterinarians pursue their education with less financial burden or the expansion of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital where students gain the hands-on experience they need to become confident, capable veterinarians. Whether you have personally relied on a VMCVM-trained veterinarian, brought your animal to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, or simply believe in preparing the next generation, you have a role in the future of veterinary medicine. From Hampton Roads to the rest of Virginia, our communities can invest in the veterinarians who will care for us and our animals for generations to come. Want to see the impact? Every gift has a story behind it. Cheesy Nights 2026 Spring
Cheesy Nights 2026 Spring
Keep students fueled during finals.
Keep students fueled during finals. University Libraries Since 2011, University Libraries has hosted a beloved Virginia Tech finals week tradition – Cheesy Nights! What started 14 years ago with just 267 sandwiches has grown into more than 9,000 gooey, golden grilled cheeses served each semester. It’s become a campus favorite and a comforting source of stress relief during exams. There’s nothing better than smiles when students see Hokie volunteers serving up their favorite sandwiches – a simple but powerful reminder. Be a part of this Virginia Tech tradition by helping us buy food supplies – including cheese, margarine, bread, fruit, snacks, and drinks – for this event. All ingredients are purchased with gifts from caring Hokies like you. We can't do it without you. Cheesy Nights is a special way to support students during one of the most stressful times of the semester. Help keep them fueled for success by giving today! Thank you for your support! Have a hankering for a grilled cheese sandwich?
