The Student Engineers Abroad Council (SEAC) is made up of Virginia Tech engineering students who aim to help our fellow students pursue academic experiences abroad. We create scholarship opportunities for students based on both need and merit. BUT, in order to provide these opportunities, we need your help!
In today's world, a globally minded approach to solving problems is essential. Each year at Virginia Tech, over 500 engineering students participate in experiences abroad. These include study abroad programs, research experiences, senior design projects, service programs, and internships which take place in over 30 different countries. Programs such as the Rising Sophomore Abroad Program allow first-year engineering students to travel to one of six countries to experience engineering problems from a local perspective, while research exchanges in China and the United Kingdom provide valuable experience in international research. Senior design projects and service programs in Nepal, Haiti and Malawi allow students to solve real-world engineering problems in collaboration with local communities. Not only do students learn about other cultures and languages, further their academic ambitions, and discover how their engineering skills fit into a global context, but they prepare themselves to truly live Virginia Tech's motto of Ut Prosim ("That I May Serve").
SEAC offers scholarships anywhere from $500 to $2,000 to help students defray the costs of overseas travel, tuition, and living costs. Your generous, tax-deductible gift invests in tomorrow’s STEM leaders, increases access to education abroad for engineering students, and supports students’ engagement in the world. For just $12, you can help a student have an unparalleled experience abroad!
