Virginia 4-H State Congress

Virginia 4-H State Congress is the premier, annual statewide 4-H event for outstanding 4-H teens and adult volunteer leaders. This opportunity, held on the campus of Virginia Tech, allows youth and adults from across the commonwealth to develop leadership and life skills through hands-on educational workshops and competitions. Beginning October 2 and for the following 30 days, Virginia 4-H is raising $10,000 to support 4-H members and volunteer leaders to attend State 4-H Congress. Your contribution can help to provide transportation, workshop materials, partial scholarships and more. 

Goals of Virginia 4-H State Congress

1. Provide a high-quality educational experience for 4-H youth ages 14-18.
2. Promote 4-H as a major statewide educational youth program;
3. Provide educational, recreational and social experiences for youth that are not normally available at the unit or district level;

   

   
4. Enhance skill development through all 4-H Congress activities including the Great Summer Showcase workshops, service learning, & competitions;

   

5. Recognize all competition and award winners in front of their peers at a statewide event;
6. Recognize the contributions of 4-H adult volunteer leaders that support 4-H Congress;   

   

7. Promote an understanding of the value of diversity among Congress participants;

   

   

8. Enhance each delegate’s sense of personal and social responsibility through an environment that fosters independence, accountability, decision-making and time management.
