Research is often the centerpiece of a Virginia Tech education, helping students find their career path, leading to their first job, or an advanced degree.
Each year, our office works with thousands of students from every college on campus, culminating in the Dennis Dean Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship Conference.
It’s a one-day, annual event held on the Blacksburg campus where hundreds of undergraduates give poster presentations on the research they’ve done with faculty in labs, the field, studios, and archives across the Blacksburg campus.
For students who participate in the event, it can be the result of years of hard work. It’s an opportunity to share their scholarship, develop presentation skills, defend their work, and be considered for ten awards.
For the Office of Undergraduate Research, it means each year renting a venue, printing posters, buying hundreds of name tags and lanyards, a van to transport displays, and enough sandwiches, snacks, and coffee to fuel the more than 500 students who are part of this conference.
This event can be the highlight of a student’s academic career, so please help us support their work and the ground-breaking research happening on our campus.
The conference is free and open to everyone and will be held on April 25th in the ballroom at Owens Hall. Every dollar we raise will go towards this annual event. Thank you!
A gift of $5 provides coffee for three students to help them get through their presentation.
A gift of $20 pays for two students to attend the conference.
A gift of $50 pays for the printing of a student’s presentation poster at Newman Library.
A gift of $250 pays to rent the Owens Hall ballroom for the event.
