The Aiding Minds With Attridge platform is about promoting mindfulness and working towards destigmatizing the conversation around mental health. College is stressful and confusing, and there are no right answers when it comes to self-care. I want to use my platform to educate the community about the symptoms behind certain mental disorders and coping strategies, expose students to on-campus resources, and promote an accepting community that openly talks about mental health experiences; the good, bad, or neutral.
I am proud to be able to work on my platform with Active Minds at Virginia Tech. Active Minds works with the Virginia Tech community to raise awareness around mental health, promote mental wellness, and encourage students that are struggling to reach out and find support.
Mental health has always been important to me, and for many years I struggled. I was lucky to find support when I came to Tech, but for many others finding support is challenging. Resources such as Active Minds aim to help students find the support they need and create a community where everyone can grow.
Gifts of any amount will go towards supporting Active Minds and their work in mental health education and will improve the experience of students that get involved.
