My platform, P.A.W.S (Pets Are Worth Saving), focuses on supporting, donating, and partnering with rescue groups and animal shelters throughout the Blacksburg community. With more than 6 million pets abandoned annually and only half being adopted, there is an urgent need for greater awareness to ensure every animal finds a caring home. Through P.A.W.S, I strive to supply shelters with the critical resources they need while also raising awareness about the many pets still waiting for adoption. Together, we can make a lasting impact and help provide these animals with the love and homes they deserve.

I’m honored to partner with the School of Animal Science to support my platform, P.A.W.S. The School is dedicated to developing future leaders in animal science, covering a wide range of disciplines and biological systems. Their mission centers on educating students, driving discovery through translational research, sharing knowledge, and applying technology within the animal industry.

Through our collaboration, I have directly partnered with the Shelter Dog Enrichment & Training independent study course, where students work directly with dogs at Montgomery County Animal Care & Adoption Center. Guided by the needs of MCACAC, this course offers two main projects for students: an enrichment program and training classes for shelter dogs. These experiences provide students with the opportunity to learn hands-on behavior skills that will improve the welfare of dogs at MCACAC as they await their forever homes.

Gifts of any amount will go towards supporting The School of Animal Sciences’ work with shelter pets and local adoption agencies, and will make a difference in the experience of the students involved.
