My platform, Creating Hope with Canfield, is spreading awareness about pediatric cancer. The platform's goal is to build ready bags, a bag of necessities for emergency hospital visits, for the Carilion Children's Hospital. Ever since I was little, I was able to see how I could make a difference in the community and in the lives of the family and the children who were going through this. It’s such a wonderful feeling to see how something as small as bringing the community together can create such a long-lasting impact. I want to be able to bring this feeling that I have been able to see to the Virginia Tech community.
Creating Hope with Canfield is partnering with the Family Therapy Center of Virginia Tech, a clinical & research training facility for doctoral students in Virginia Tech’s marriage and family therapy program. A child’s pediatric cancer battle can be hard not only on the child but also on the parents and other family members of the child. The Family Therapy Center provides low-cost, high-quality marriage and family therapy and mental health services to individuals, couples, and families in the New River Valley. This center can provide resources, such as therapy, to those families who need it to stay strong and together through this battle.
Gifts of any amount will go towards supporting The Family Therapy Center and will make a difference in the experience of those who use their services.
Thank you in advance for your gift!
Gifts are critical to continuing to provide financial support to departments. Help us help other Hokies!
As our local students celebrate Homecoming, help us make Blacksburg feel more like home with a gift.
