Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live and Living to Serve. Twelve short words that have been so powerful in shaping the future of so many who are now FFA alumni and will continue to serve in preparing the next generation leaders.
FFA’s roots began at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1925, and today remains a premier youth development organization of Virginia Tech as part of Virginia Cooperative Extension. FFA is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
Careers and industries that touch the production of food, fiber, energy and forest products provide more than $105B of economic impact and 490,000 jobs in the Commonwealth according to the Virginia Department of Agriculture. All are critical to supporting our most basic needs.
Formal education in middle and high school is supported by the FFA organization with hands-on, “real world” experiences that prepare youth for long-term success.
Robert Mills, agriculture producer, Virginia Tech alumnus, and former president of Virginia FFA shared:
“FFA was the foundation of my agriculture career. FFA gave me the building blocks to be successful in the agriculture industry, and also gave me the tools I’ve needed to be successful in life. I developed communication,organization, and problem solving skills, learned how to work as a team member and be a leader. FFA instills integrity, a strong work ethic, citizenship and commitment, all foundational for success in life. FFA not only prepares students to be the agriculture leaders of tomorrow, it creates a voice of advocacy to promote the food, fiber [and natural resources] industries throughout the world.”

Double the impact! The Virginia FFA Foundation will generously match the first $1000 raised to support Virginia FFA.
This effort is supported by a partnership between the Virginia Tech Foundation, Virginia FFA Foundation, Virginia FFA and Virginia Cooperative Extension.
Could provide a state convention medal to recognize excellence in competition areas.
Could provide an area winner plaque - one of six to be given at 15 events during State FFA Convention.
Could provide a state winner plaque - 1 to be given at 62 events during State FFA Convention.
Living to serve! A gift of $150 could provide travel support for one volunteer for one day.
Can provide support for 1 of 54 youth state contest winners to participate in the National FFA Convention experience.
Embarking on a journey of leadership, a $600 donation could provide support for one state officer to attend the National State Officer Summit.
Could provide funding for a State Officer or a National Officer Candidate to attend National Convention. This premier opportunity demonstrates the commitment of learning and service central to the mission of Virginia Tech, Virginia Cooperative Extension and FFA.
