Help the Students for Cultivating Change students attend the national Cultivating Change Summit to meet the members of our nation’s other chapters and participate in professional development opportunities.
We are Students for Cultivating Change at Virginia tech, a student organization who welcomes all who wish to advance LGBTQ+ issues in agriculture, natural resources, and beyond.
This year, the Cultivating Change Foundation is hosting the 6th Cultivating Change Summit, the first since 2019, in Raleigh, North Carolina. The summit brings together agriculture LGBTQ+ employees, human resources and diversity and inclusion professionals, leaders, executives and organizational leaders, allies and others who are working toward an equitable industry environment for LGBTQ+ agriculturists everywhere.
We are so excited to send our amazing students to the summit this year; however, we need funding to support students who cannot afford it by themselves. Our goal is $6,000 which would fully fund 10 students to attend this fantastic professional development opportunity. We greatly appreciate any size gift that will help provide this experience to as many students as possible!
College of Agriculture and Life Sciences alumni, Steven Critchfield ’80, has generously provided a gift matching challenge of $3,000. Give today, double your impact, and support LGBTQ+ students.
Your $5 will go towards building a scholarship to send a student. This can include food, transportation, housing and registration. Every bit counts since our goal is to send as many students as possible.
Current seniors who make a gift of $5 or more to our project will have their gift count as their Senior Class Gift. Gifts of $22+ will receive a commemorative mug and graduation cord as a thank you from the committee. More information can be found about the Senior Class Gift and mug/cord pick up times by visiting https://www.alumni.vt.edu/young-alumni/gift.html
Since the Cultivating Change Summit is in Raleigh, North Carolina this year, we need to cover transportation to get there. $25 will go towards funding travel for a student.
$50 will go towards covering all of the food costs for a student so they do not have to worry about funding their food for this trip.
The registration fee for one student to attend the conference is $150. Your donation will allow us to send even more amazing students as this is the highest cost barrier for us.
$450 is the estimated cost of sending one student to the summit this year. By donating this amount you would remove all financial barriers to sending a student and allow us to give all of our members an opportunity to attend.
