Helping others is what Hokies do -- can you step up to help an incoming first year student from the Richmond area?
Each year chapters around the world rally together to raise money for student scholarships. They make a difference for Hokies just starting their journey at Virginia Tech, helping to offset the costs of books, tuition, even travel to and from campus.
Richmond alumni have helped more than 90 students by raising more $200,000 over the last 15 years.
You can support a new Hokie from our area by making a gift to our chapter’s crowdfunding campaign.
Together Richmond Hokies are trying to raise $2,500. Will you help?
Gifts of any size matter and it's a chance to help your community.
Plus, chapters from all over are challenging Hokies in their neighborhood to raise money for students from their own backyard. Who will be the first chapter to meet their goal?
Don’t miss your chance!
Hear from students how a scholarship made a difference to them:
"It allowed me to buy textbooks and other class materials that I would otherwise have trouble financing. It really helps in a major way, especially for low income family like myself. Every single dollars help with my family's financial situation" - Zhi Cheng Jin, Class of 2022
"Earning a chapter scholarship helped take some of the pressure off of figuring out how I was going to pay for college. It also helped me feel recognized for everything that I had done in high school to reach this point in my academic career. " - Alex Labbott, Class of 2024
"Earning the Richmond Alumni Chapter Scholarship last year greatly helped me in being able to finance my education and experience all that Virginia Tech has to offer. I am so grateful to the Richmond Alumni Chapter and the Virginia Tech Chapter Programs for allowing me the opportunity to become a proud Hokie! Through giving back to your local chapter to fund scholarships, you are allowing a future student the opportunity to come to Virginia Tech, become a Hokie, and have all of the amazing experiences that you have had throughout your time at Tech. " - Sarah Jackson, Class of 2023
