Junior Sophia Phillips calls her chapter scholarship a blessing.
“Coming from a single parent household, any and every scholarship helps to make college possible,” she said. “Without scholarships, I don't think I'd be where I am today or feel as set up for graduate school as I do now.”
Each year chapters around the world rally together to raise money for student scholarships to help Hokies in their neighborhood. The scholarships make a difference for Hokies like Phillips.
Tidewater alumni helped 4 students last year by raising $6,500.
You can support a new Hokie from our area by making a gift to our chapter’s crowdfunding campaign. Chapters all over are challenging local alumni to contribute.
Together Tidewater Hokies are trying to raise $2,000. Will you help?
Gifts of any size matter and it's a chance to help Hokies in your community. Those that donate through this page will be thanked with a special Virginia Tech Alumni sticker so you can let the community know that you care about supporting the Hokie experience!
Phillips said her undergraduate research helped her discover a passion for helping athletes recover from concussions and traumatic brain injuries.
“Virginia Tech has made a tremendous impact on my life,” she said. “The Hokie community really is unlike any other because of its emphasis on academic support, service, and spirit.”
Every little bit makes a difference to local area students
Alumni support is critical to continuing to provide financial support to local students. Help us help other Hokies!
As our local students move away from home, help us make their first year in Blacksburg a little easier with a local alumni scholarship.
Supporting Virginia Tech and the Hokie community is a part of who we are. Your donation is a sign of support for the next generation of Hokies.
