Without a chapter scholarship, junior Grace Hare would not have been able to participate in groundbreaking research. “This scholarship allowed me to spend more time in my research lab studying how different food types affect muscle composition in horses,” Hare said.
Each year alumni chapters around the world rally together to raise money for student scholarships to help Hokies in their neighborhood. The scholarships make a difference for Hokies like Hare.
Orange County alumni helped two OC students last year by raising $2,000.
You can support a new Hokie from our area by making a gift to our chapter’s crowdfunding campaign.
Together Orange Hokies are trying to raise $1,000.
Chapters all over are challenging local alumni to contribute.
Gifts of any size matter and it's a chance to help Hokies in your community. Donors to our scholarship fund through this page will be thanked with a special Virginia Tech Alumni sticker so you can let the community know that you care about supporting the Hokie experience!
"Scholarships can change the entire path that a student chooses to take . . . After receiving my scholarship, I was able to add a double major and spend even more hours in my research lab,” Hare said. “Virginia Tech has really shown me life away from home and outside of the 'Orange County bubble.' It has opened my eyes to people from completely different backgrounds from me and taught me so much independence. I really value this time here as a Virginia Tech student, and look forward to what the future holds.”
