Congratulations to our Virginia Delegation for representing so well at Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup in Louisville, KY, November 9th, 2019! Katie Define (Albemarle) won the Public Speaking Championship. Cora Hoemann (Caroline) won 3rd in Individual Presentation. The Hippology Team of Sarah Foster (City of Chesapeake), Hannah Beaver (Albemarle) , Lainey Butler (Albemarle), Rachel Buchanan (Botetourt) won the Team Reserve Championship, 2nd Team Written, 2nd Team Stations, and 3rd Team Problem; Sarah won 2nd overall individual, 3rd Individual Stations, and 1st Individual Written; Hannah won 4th Individual Overall, 2nd Individual Stations, and 3rd Individual Written. Sam Levine (Roanoke) competed as an individual in the Horse Judging contest and the Horse Bowl Team members were Kayla Dixon, Carolyn Hicks, Libby Pumphrey, and Samantha Whysong (all Prince William).

In late October the horse judging team members, Hannah Beaver, Lainey Butler, and Isabella Karr (Albemarle members) for traveled to Tulsa, OK for Arabian Nationals! Many thanks to the traveling coaches, Yvonne Miller and Kara Hite! The team won the Reserve Championship and Hannah Beaver walked away with the First Place Overall Individual!! With no less than 23 ribbons coming home with them, here are the results: Halter: Hannah - 3rd individual, Lainey - 5th individual, 3rd Place Team. Performance: Hannah - 3rd individual, 5th Place Team. Reasons: Hannah - 2nd individual, Lainey - 3rd individual, 2nd Place Team. Overall Individual: Hannah - 1st, Lainey - 9th. Overall Team: 2nd.
Previously in June, eight judging team members competed at the APHA Youth World Horse Judging Contest in Fort Worth, TX. Kayla Dixon placed 10th and Brianne Lefanowicz (Caroline) placed 6th in the Performance division. Other traveling team members were Isabella Karr, Cora Hoemann, Hannah Beaver, Kaylee Hill (Rockingham), Lainey Butler, and Sam Levine.
Thanks to your support, the VA 4-H Horse Program educational teams did a wonderful job winning many ribbons at Southern Regionals in Perry Georgia (early Sept) and at the All American Quarter Horse Congress this week! We are so proud of them! Next to come will be Nationals!!
