My name is Ryan Niblock and my sponsoring organization is the G.E.R.M.A.N. Club of Virginia Tech. College is a never ending train that leaves little room for people to take care of their mental health. It’s common culture to keep one’s internal battles with mental health silent, I look to change that. I want to define mental health as it pertains to college students, focus on the signs, and approach bettering our mental health as a community. Through educating those struggling with their mental health how to reach out to trusted peers, educating those close peers the best ways possible to respond, and subsequently, make sure together, that nobody has to battle with mental health alone ever again. I would like to put on an event to connect Virginia Tech students to resources around campus and in the NRV community, while creating a safe space to discuss mental health.
