How many times can we say THANK YOU?

November 01, 2018

In 30 days, you have helped us raise $7,670 in study abroad scholarships. Many thanks to you all! We are overwhelmed by the generosity and support. These contributions will help students access study abroad opportunities they may not otherwise consider. We will keep you posted on the progress of students who are awarded scholarships resulting from this effort.

Just 5 hours left!

October 31, 2018

The last 30 days have been a whirlwind. It’s hard to believe that we’re down to the last 5 hours. We’re still short of the $10,000 goal, so please encourage others to contribute before time runs out. The more funds raised, the more support we can provide underrepresented students at Virginia Tech in their efforts to study abroad. Thank you!

This is it - Less than 48 hours left

October 29, 2018

It seems like only yesterday when we launched this effort. We now have less than 48 hours left. Sixty generous donors have helped us reach over $7,300! Thank you so much!

If you missed any of the student features this month, find them on the Global Education website: www.globaleducation.vt.edu. You can also check out the GEO Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Help us push a little more by continuing to share.

We're more than halfway there!

October 25, 2018

With a generous donation from the Department of Marketing in the Pamplin College of Business, we have now raised over $6,500. We are so grateful to all of our supporters! Just a handful of days left, but we now have a better shot at reaching the end goal. Please continue to share!

Final push!

October 20, 2018

There are just 10 days left in our crowdfunding effort. In these last few days, help us get the word out and raise more study abroad scholarships.

In the Virginia Tech Daily today...

October 17, 2018

We're inching closer to the $3,000 mark!

The article about our campaign was published in the Virginia Tech Daily email today: https://vtnews.vt.edu/articles/2018/10/outreach-GEOcrowdfunding.html

Thank you to Caitlin Huynh and Katherine Louis for sharing their experiences with us.

We're at the midway point and almost to 30%

October 15, 2018

We wanted to take a moment to thank our generous supporters. We're 15 days in and have 15 to go. Please continue to share the effort with those you know. Have a great week ahead!

15% to the goal

October 05, 2018

In our first five days of the campaign, we've made progress to 15% of our goal. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! Please continue to share the campaign effort with all those that you know.

Our student features "The Faces of Study Abroad" have continued throughout the week. Follow the Global Education Facebook (www.facebook.com/vtgeo) or Instagram (@vtabroad) to see them all.

Happy weekend and thank you!!!

30 days to make a difference

October 01, 2018

Today marks a new initiative for the Global Education Office! We're glad you can join us in the effort to send Hokies abroad. In the next 30 days, we'll feature students who have studied abroad and in their words show how study abroad has impacted their lives.

Levels
Choose a giving level

$25

Global Entry

Your contribution at this level helps students gain entry to the vast benefits and opportunities studying abroad provides.

$50

Boarding Pass

Your donation at this level will help students take the first steps in the study abroad process such as required application fees which can range on average from $25-$150 depending on the specific program.

$145

Passport Holder

A donation at this level covers costs for a new passport. For some students a study abroad experience may be their first opportunity to leave home, the state of Virginia, or the country.

$500

Hokie Ambassador

Your contribution at this level supports students in meeting the financial costs associated with living in a different country and engaging with the people and culture of that community. Costs may include room and board, admission to museums or other historic sites, food and other cultural experiences, and more.

$1,000

Frequent Flyer

Your contribution at this level supports students with costs related to international flights or transportation within countries. Airline flights for study abroad programs can range from $1,500 to $3,000.

$5,000

Global Citizen

A donation at this level would break a significant barrier for students and would make study abroad much more accessible to a diverse group of students. Program costs vary widely, but on average range from $2,000-$10,000.
