Hunger is always an issue in rural counties, and Patrick is no exception. In 2014 the Reynolds Homestead helped sponsor an Empty Bowls event which raised over $6,000 to benefit the Patrick County Food Bank, which serves an average of 425 families each month. In 2018, we plan to host another event, but first we need your help!
"Bowl Fest" is a series of community bowl making events which will happen November through January. Our goal is to make at least 600 bowls that will then be used to raise money for our Empty Bowls event. To host these events, we need to raise $2,500 for clay and other materials, as well as a coordinator for the events, who will also instruct the classes and fire the bowls in our kiln.
Even the smallest donation will help us reach our very moderate goal of $2,500! Please take time today to contribute to Bowl Fest.
“Empty Bowls” is an international project to fight hunger, personalized on a community level. “Empty Bowls” allows participants to create and donate bowls, then serve a simple meal. On the day of the event, guests choose a bowl to use that day and to keep as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. In exchange for the meal, and the bowl, guests contribute a suggested minimum donation. One hundred percent of each meal's proceeds are devoted to local hunger-fighting organizations; in our case, the Patrick County Food Bank.
