Our Last Chance to Make a Difference This Breast Cancer Awareness Month
We've achieved so much this Breast Cancer Awareness Month: over $3K raised to provide free screening services Virginia's most vulnerable communities!
But with October coming to an end, we need your help more than ever to keep our cause at the front of people's minds.
We still have nearly $6.5K left to raise to meet our fundraising goal. Anything you can do, whether that’s giving a few more dollars or spreading the word on Facebook or Twitter, will make a huge difference.
We won’t stop until we’ve reached our goal of reducing breast cancer deaths 50% by 2026. In Virginia alone, that would mean 113 lives saved every year.
We know this is a cause worth fighting for.
With your help, more women will rest easy this holiday season. You’ll be giving them an irreplaceable gift: years of good health to enjoy with their friends and family.
Thank you so much for your support and for encouraging the people in your life to give today.
You've Taken a Stand Against Breast Cancer—We Want to Hear What Sparked it!
We began Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a mission: provide free mammogram services to five of the most under-served counties in our area.
Now that October is nearing its close, we couldn’t be more impressed with the Virginia Tech community’s support. This weekend alone, we've doubled our total dollars raised to $3,275!
With only a few weeks left to reach our $10K fundraising goal, we want to hear from you, the supporters.
What inspired you to give?
- The memory of a friend or loved one you lost to this disease, which still claims the lives of 40,000 American women each year?
- Service to your local Virginia community where 104 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed each week?
- The belief that everyone deserves access to basic screening services that can triple their chances of cancer survival?
Your motivation for giving is powerful.
When you share your reasons for giving on Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #VTFightsBC, when you email our form letter to your friends and colleagues, when you share our fundraising appeal video, more people are likely to listen and take action with a gift.
Our team is powerful, and growing—we know that each dollar raised could represent another life saved.
Your Support is Inspiring—Spread it Around!
We're half-way into Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it's been inspiring to see such an outpouring of support from the Virginia Tech community–Hokies have already contributed over $1,600 to provide mammogram services for under-served women in our region.
Each dollar we’ve raised so far has a potentially life-saving impact, but you can help us achieve even more.
We have 30 days left to raise the remaining $8,300 needed to meet our fundraising goal. As a supporter of this project, you have the ability to inspire others in your life to take action, too.
Whatever you can do to help spread the word—like sharing this project on Facebook and Twitter—will bring us one step closer to achieving our mission.
We’ve partnered with Susan G. Komen Virginia Blue Ridge to help us maximize the impact of every donation made. We believe that, with supporters like you, we can help fulfill their goal to cut the number of breast cancer deaths in half by 2026.
For our mothers, daughters, friends, and neighbors, please encourage your social network to give today.
One Giant Leap Toward a Healthier Hokie Community!
One week in, and we've already raised 10% toward our fundraising goal! This is a phenomenal start—huge thanks to all of our supporters for making the New River Valley a better, healthier place this Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
We've got just 39 more days to meet our fundraising goal, so we're doing everything we can to continue getting the word out. If you haven't already, consider sharing this project with people in your social networks via Twitter, Facebook, or email.
