Student Sarah Ramboyong said her chapter scholarship helped with financial stress, but also made her feel like she had the support of Hokie Nation.
“When I first got to Tech I felt a bit of imposters syndrome being here,” Ramboyong said, “but remembering that my chapter had invested in me and was supporting my time here at Tech gave me a lot of comfort and confidence.”
Each year chapters around the world rally together to raise money for student scholarships to help Hokies in their neighborhood. The scholarships make a difference for Hokies just starting their journey at Virginia Tech, like Ramboyong.
You can support a new Hokie from the area by making a gift to our chapter’s crowdfunding campaign. Together D.C. Hokies are trying to raise $3,500. Chapters all over are challenging local alumni to contribute.
Gifts of any size matter and help Hokies in our community.
Donors to our scholarship fund through this page will be thanked with a special Virginia Tech Alumni sticker so you can let the community know that you care about supporting the Hokie experience!
Ramboyong, a first year student from the D.C. area, is studying computation modeling and data analytics and is grateful for the Hokies who have helped her.
“I wish that I could thank every single Hokie who donated to my local chapter and funded my scholarship, because it truly made a huge difference for me financially,” she said. “I would tell other Hokies who are considering donating that every single dollar they donate, whether it’s $1 or $100, it will make a huge difference and every recipient will be so incredibly grateful and humbled to have so many Hokies believe in us.”
Every little bit counts as we support our local Hokie students.
Only a few years out, you still remember what it's like to have the support of Hokies back home. Help us make a difference to students from the DC Metro Area.
Alumni support is critical to continuing to provide financial support to local students. Help us help other Hokies!
You know better than most what scholarships can mean to a Hokie family. Help us support a student as they start their own journey in Blacksburg.
We missed our career fair -- our largest fundraiser -- for the last two years. Career Connectors will help us fill the gaps from lost company registration fees from 2020 and 2021.
Provide the necessary support for one DC Metro Area student to have a scholarship next year!
