Support Men's Golf

Entering year three of the Coach Sharp era, the Virginia Tech men's golf program returns a strong core group that is eager to help the Hokies return to postseason play this season. The returners have combined to play in 116 collegiate events, led by senior Connor Burgess, who has competed in 34 tournaments.

Tech also returns Daniel Azallion, who claimed the Oldfield Invitational last season in impressive fashion (9-under 207), to guide the Hokies to the team title - the first under Coach Sharp. Sophomore Charlie Hanson will look to build upon his first season in Blacksburg where he was second on the team in scoring average (73.12). He won the Myrtle Beach Amateur in June.

The lone newcomer this year for the Hokies is the third-ranked recruit in Virginia, David Stanford. Most recently, the Tech freshman competed in the 2021 U.S. Amateur at Oakmont Country Club in August. Stanford had a superb summer, winning the VSGA Junior Match Play at Winchester Country Club and the VSGA Junior Stroke Play at Roanoke Country Club. He became just the fifth golfer to win both the VSGA Junior Match Play and Stroke Play in the same year, and first since former Hokie, Mark Lawrence Jr. did so in 2015.

Tech's regular season consists of 10 tournaments - five in the fall and five in the spring. The Hokies will be seeking their first NCAA Regional berth since 2014-15.
