Welcome to My Crowdfunding Page!
My name is Tam Hoang and I am honored to be a part of the 2019 Homecoming Court with my sponsoring organization, the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA). I want to take this incredible opportunity to share my campaign that brings awareness to the educational discrepancies children with disabilities, in rural minorities, and in single family homes are facing everyday in Vietnam. I’ve partnered up with a grassroots, non-profit organization called Children of Vietnam who works to build school facilities, regulate clean drinking water stations, provide school supplies, give university scholarships, hold academic tutoring workshops, and more. My platform strives to directly improve the educational quality of these vulnerable children and to provide them the future that they deserve.
We are fortunate at Virginia Tech to award a homecoming fund to a cause of the student body’s choice. I want to use these funds to help other people in need through my campaign, Education Strong With Tam Hoang. The support goes a long way, especially in countries where learning is not free, school facilities are not funded or taken care of and the people are living in poverty. Every child deserves to have the same amount of opportunities, with education being a fundamental component to shaping their future.
As Hokies, we begin by focusing our efforts to aid the Virginia Tech campus communities, but we now have the resources and ability to extend Virginia Tech’s global footprint and make a tangible and direct impact on the Vietnamese community. Education Strong With Tam Hoang, in partnership with Children of Vietnam, helps each Hokie live out the Virginia Tech mission statement daily by serving others.
How Your Support Helps
Your gift will be used to help cover the costs of my platform and Children of Vietnam’s, most immediate needs. These funds will be used to host a street festival embracing Vietnamese Culture with various native food vendors and performances. The funds will also be used to:
