Leading Outdoors with Ligon

Welcome to My Crowdfunding Page!

My name is Rouselle Ligon and I am honored to be a part of the 2019 Homecoming Court with my sponsoring organization, Virginia Tech Men’s Rugby. I want to take this incredible opportunity to raise awareness towards platform, Leading Outdoors With Ligon, which focus on outdoor recreation accessibility in the Greater Virginia Tech community. Often, particular outdoor recreation (OR) activities like kayaking or camping and outdoor education (OE) are inaccessible to children that belong to lower socioeconomic groups or minorities. OR and OE play an integral role in development as they expose children to new challenges and allow them to become more in touch with their environment. Through our efforts to aid the Virginia Tech campus communities, Leading Outdoors With Ligon, helps each member live out the Virginia Tech mission statement daily by serving others.

How your support helps

Your gift will be used to help cover the costs of Leading Outdoors With Ligon most immediate needs.

Examples of how these funds may be used:

• Help pay for costs associated with my on-campus event, Outdoor Expo, which showcases activities on the drillfield
• Pay for transportation to and from Claytor Lake for an afternoon of paddle boarding and outdoor education enrichment around the park
• Fund the purchase of outdoor recreation gear that will be used in a raffle for participants who come to the park.
